Gene Feroglia, CEO
As a co-founder and senior executive, Gene Feroglia has been instrumental in the formation and management of several startups. His expertise includes building strategic alliances, negotiating equity financing, mergers and acquisitions, and developing and executing innovative sales and marketing strategies. Mr. Feroglia served most recently as the President and CEO of iSurfTV Corp. iSurfTV developed a unique Electronic Programming Guide to make it easier to search the ever increasing amount of digital content. At iSurfTV he raised $13 million in venture capital, established strategic relationships with Motorola and the National Cable Television Cooperative and later sold the company to The Tribune Co. Mr. Feroglia previously served as President of HoTV - a startup working on scene detection technologies for digital video. Prior to HoTV, he was EVP, Corporate Development at Carsmart.com where he refocused the Company on search engine referrals and personally negotiated the merger of CarSmart with Autobytel. Prior to that he was Senior Vice President of ParaGraph International, a 3-D tools company that he helped sell to Silicon Graphics. Previously he was interim President of Knowledge Adventure Worlds, a pioneer in 3-D interactive applications on the web, where he helped raise over $15 million in equity funding.
The early part of his career was spent with IBM, where he held a variety of sales and marketing positions. Mr. Feroglia holds a BS in Business Administration from San Diego State University and he is a graduate of the Harvard Advanced Business Institute.
Dan Kikinis, CTO
Dan Kikinis has more than 20 years of experience in the development of high-technology products and intellectual property, with more than 250 registered patents worldwide in technology areas such as PCs, Internet, networks and systems. Dan most recently served as CTO for iSurftTV. Before joining iSurfTV, Mr. Kikinis was founder and president of Lextron Systems, where he helped develop intellectual property strategy as a basis for strategic technology claims for several enterprises, most notably Genesys Telecommunications Labs, Inc., recently acquired by Alcatel. Prior to founding Lextron Systems, Mr. Kikinis was president of Oakleigh Systems, with a mission to deliver best-in-class systems and raw patent technology in the general field of PC computing. In addition to designing award-winning PCs, he filed and participated in filing for more than 500 patents, some of which are now widely licensed.
Mr. Kikinis has held design and development positions, some with operational responsibilities, for firms in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He received a BS in Electronic Engineering and an MS in Computer Sciences from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.
Boris Erlikhman, Ph.D., Vice President Engineering
Boris Erlikhman joined Otopy with more than 20 years' experience as a software engineer, primarily on the Windows, Linux and UNIX platforms. His primary expertise is in web services and applications, Windows kernel and system management, and databases. He most recently was President of Tring Consulting, where he managed several custom software development projects. He previously served as Technical Lead for Hewlett-Packard where he participated in the design and development of Data Protector, a backup and restore solution. Prior to that, he was cofounder of 3Cube Inc., where he participated in the architecture, design and development of a set of hosted web services. 3Cube was sold to Oracle Corp. Boris earned an MS from the Moscow Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. from the Federal Railway Research Institute (VNIIGT), Moscow, Russia.
Vladimir Lipkin, System Architect, Engineering
Vladimir Lipkin has over 20 years of software development experience, with expertise are in the areas of multi-tier applications and distributed systems design, databases and data processing, algorithm development and optimization. He previously worked for Memonet, Inc. where he developed text analyzing tools to build relationships between newspaper articles. He previously served as an architect and senior engineer with Corrigo, Inc., where he developed a web-based service management solution with a real-time flow of information between customers, technicians and management. Before that he developed specialized tools for accessing and manipulating an Oracle repository for Soluton Inc. At CamSystems, Inc. he designed scheduling systems for managing the sale of television ad time. Mr. Lipkin earned a BS and an MS from the Moscow Institute of Technology in Russia.
